America’s Got Talent went live for the first time this season on Tuesday and after 24 hours of voting it was time to see which seven acts would be the first to advance to the semifinals.
Host Tyra Banks revealed the acts that came last in the public vote. Singers Christian Guardino and Yoli Mayor were joined by dance group Just Jerk as the first Dunkin’ Save of the season was in play.
Tyra revealed that Air Force choir Into The Stairwell would be first to advance to the semifinals and comedian Preacher Lawson joined them as the second act to advance.
After a performance from last season’s winner Grace Vanderwaal, Tyra returned to deliver some more results. 12-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer along with singer Angelica Hale were the third and fourth acts through respectively. But not before Tyra sent panic through the Dolby Theatre as both girls were called on stage together, fearing one would be sent home.
The final act to make the semifinals before the Dunkin’ save results was brother and sister danger act Billy and Emily England.
After some filler featuring judge Howie Mandel in disguise, Tyra returned for the biggest result of the night. Howie’s Golden Buzzer act Christian Guardino got the most votes to save and advanced, leaving the fate of the other two acts in the hands of the judges.
The judges were split with Howie and Mel B picking Just Jerk, while Simon Cowell and Heidi Klum picked Yoli Mayor. The result went back to the public vote as Yoli got the most votes last night to advance.
America’s Got Talent continues next Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC with the second semifinal of the season.
