After weeks of speculation, Channel 7 officially announced it is reviving Big Brother Australia in 2020 after a five year absence. The announcement was made at the Seven Upfronts announcement on Wednesday morning.
Big Brother last aired in Australia in 2014 on Channel Nine and Seven executives are claiming the revivial will be the “most thrilling version of Big Brother” Australia has ever seen.
Endemol Shine Australia has already ran promos with the tagline the game has changed, confirming new rules. There has also been a hint towards a format change, with the trailer shown at the Upfronts suggesting the show will be changing to the American format.
Seven did not confirm the controversial rumours but one suggests the entire season will be taped months in advance from January to April before airing after the 2020 Olympic Games. The network also did not announced who would host the show, fueling the existing rumours that the show will not have a host when it returns.
