Ben Haenow has been dropped by Simon Cowell’s record label after releasing his debut album just two months ago, it has been confirmed.
The 31-year-old won The X Factor 2014, beating out Fleur East. His self-titled album made its debut in November at number 10 on the UK charts, but his recent single Slamming Doors failed to chart.
“Simon is sad about the decision but it just hasn’t worked out,” a source told The Mirror. “Fleur East came second in the series but has been more successful and he is now focusing on her career along with launching last year’s champion Louisa Johnson.”
Ben confirmed the news via Twitter to his fans:
Hey guys X Sorry I've been a bit quiet on here recently, been a crazy few weeks! So I wanted to let you all (cont) https://t.co/D98AnTTtwK

Ben hit Christmas number one with a cover of OneRepublic’s Something I Need, which sold 214,000 – but he has not been successful since. His first single Second Hand Heart from his debut album saw him team up with American singer Kelly Clarkson, but failed to crack the top 20.
