The grand final week of Big Brother Australia kicked off on Monday night with two epic challenges as the final five housemates became four with just days left until someone bags a massive cash prize.
The episode began with the fallout from Sophie’s return to the house. Chad and Sarah are obviously very happy but Dan and Mat aren’t. The guys are giving her the cold shoulder and are being rude to her. However, Sophie couldn’t care less.
“While they’re feeling sorry for themselves, I’m thinking about how I’m gonna crush them,” she says.

Mat was so upset that Sophie returned that he couldn’t even go to show a dog that Big Brother brought in some love and affection. That’s just so wrong.
Anyway, the first of two challenges began with a twist. Instead of winning the power to nominate, the housemate who finishes last will automatically be up for eviction. Also, Mat would have an extra vote since his White Room vote did not happen.
For this challenge, the final five must collect the falling grain in a bucket and then run up the stairs to refill the funnel before it runs out of corn. It was a close race but Sarah’s funnel drained and that meant she would be up for the chop later.
The second challenge was something straight out of Fear Factor as Chad, Sophie, Mat, and Dan were put in a cage and had to race to free themselves as it rapidly fills with water by unlocking five locks. Sophie would have six as she was at a disadvantage for her returning from the White Room.
Sophie, Dan, and Mat really struggled as they could not open a single lock. Chad unlocked all five and won the challenge to keep him and Sophie safe.
Chad nominated Mat to sit next to Sarah. That left Sarah with one last-ditch effort to persuade Dan to turn on his friend. Host Sonia Kruger returned for the eviction and got things started. When she revealed the vote, Sarah was evicted 2-1, with Sophie being the lone vote to save her.
“It could be a mistake for Dan to vote me out. Mat is a bigger competition for Dan if they were both to make the final three,” Sarah says as she leaves the house.
Big Brother had one final announcement for the final four. They will compete in one final challenge and the winner will be the sole vote to evict, thus deciding the final three.
Who will win? The Bromance or the Showmance?
Big Brother continues Tuesday night at 7.30 pm on Channel 7 in Australia.
