Big Brother USA kicked off its 20th season on Wednesday and despite the premiere numbers being low, still delivered a win for CBS.
An average of 5.3 million viewers tuned in as 16 brand new houseguests moved in to compete for $500,000 grand prize. The premiere earned a 1.5 rating in the key among adults 18-49.
The figure is down on the 5.9 million that watched last year’s premiere and also down in the 18-49 demo, which had 1.7. However, it was still a win for CBS, who easily took home the victory on the night.
As far as summer programming goes, only America’s Got Talent and World of Dance rated higher in the 18-49 demo.
Big Brother USA airs Sunday’s Wednesday’s, and Thursday’s on CBS in the US.
