The tenth anniversary of Britain’s Got Talent saw a flurry of talent hit our television screens, but also saw the lowest rated final in show history.
An average of eight million people tuned into see Richard Jones be crowned the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2016. Around 500,000 watched on ITV+1.
A peak audience of 9.7 million tuned into ITV as the winner was about to be announced live.
The figure is down on last year’s final, which drew in an average of 11.7 million viewers. The previous low was in 2014 when 10.7 million saw singing group Collabro take home the title.
The low figures may be due to the final airing at the same time as the Uefa Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid over on BT Sport.
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV next year for its eleventh series.
