Britain’s Got Talent finalists Mel & Jamie may have been voted into Saturday’s final, but their semifinal performance left viewers uncomfortable.
The mother and son duo sang Miley Cyrus’ hit song The Climb on Sunday. The performance got a nice review from the judges, but fans called it cringeworthy as the pair held hands while singing a love song to each other.
Several viewers took to Twitter to voice their opinion:
Honestly cannot emphasise how cringe worthy Mel and Jamie were on britains got talent, mother and son relationship taken a bit too far #BGT

a guy that age singing and holding hands with his mummy on stage is just too cringeworthy to watch (also not great singing at all) #BGT

It was not all bad though, as a majority of viewers loved the bond the pair have. The judges praised the pair, with Amanda Holden saying “the performance showed the strong bond between the two.”
The duo will look to win the hearts of the nation once again on Saturday, when they perform for the chance to be crowned winners.
Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight with the second live semifinal on ITV at 7:30 p.m.
