Just over 2 million viewers tuned into the summer launch of Celebrity Big Brother 2015 on Thursday night, which saw 12 famous famous enter Britain’s most famous house.
An average of 2.14 million viewers saw Big Brother open his house to a batch of brand new celebrities, but that number is expected to rise to 2.2 when +1 numbers are added. That is down 200,000 viewers from last summer’s run and down 1 million from January’s winter series.
Meanwhile, spin off show Big Brother’s Bit On the Side pulled in 750,000 for their first episode of the series.
However, the show was a hit on social media as the majority of trending topics on Twitter were about the show. The hashtag #CBBUK trended worldwide into the early hours of morning.
Some of the celebrities who made their arrivals last night included X Factor rejects Stevi Ritchie and Chloe Jasmine, former Apprentice candidate James Hill, actor Daniel Baldwin and hip hop producer Fatman Scoop.
Big Brother continues tonight at 9 p.m. on Channel 5 where former American model Janice Dickinson and comic Bobby Davro will enter the house in a special live show.
