Cheryl is reportedly set to make a return to The X Factor judging panel in 2018 and replace Nicole Scherzinger.
The Sun reports that the new mum is on the verge of agreeing to a £1.5million deal to take her place at the judges desk after two years away.
The news comes after Cheryl’s appearance with Simon Cowell at the Judges Houses stage of the competition, leaving the fans wanting her back on the panel.
A source told The Sun: “It looks like Cheryl will be back next year. Simon knows Nicole is likely to leave and he wants a big name, and some much-needed glamour on the panel.”
With reports swirling that Nicole is leaving the panel, speculation was rife that Cheryl would replace her, despite her differences with Louis Walsh.
“Louis was a huge factor in this,” the source said. “He wants Cheryl back as well and agrees getting her would be a massive coup.
The 34-year-old took time off following a divorce from Jean-Bernard Versini. Since then, she gave birth to her son Bear with One Direction singer Liam Payne. Cheryl’s first appearance on the panel was in 2008 before quitting in 2011. She returned in 2014 for two more series.
“Simon has supported her through her problems and wants her back in the fold now she is happy,” the source added.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that Louis and Sharon Osbourne are already signed up for next year – but Nicole was not.
“I’m incredibly ambitious and still have a lot of things musically I want to achieve,” Nicole said when she was asked if she was returning next year.
With the American judge the only one to not sign on for the next series, it looks as if the judging panel is already complete. Louis, Sharon, and Simon will be joined by Cheryl barring any last minute changes.
Following Simon’s accident last week, the panel for next year will be one less thing he will need to stress over.
“He knows he will get that with Cheryl and she would be a really popular signing and a huge hit. “Simon has had his own problems lately but has been really keen to get the deal nailed down.”
The X Factor continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
