Reports have begun circulating today that Danny Dyer would take an extended hiatus from his role as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in EastEnders after worries for his health.
According to The Sun, the actor was ‘enforced to take a break’ from filming the BBC One soap amid concerns from producers that he needs to ‘sort his life out’.
However, in a statement, a BBC spokesperson said: “Danny is on a short break from EastEnders.
“This was not enforced by bosses, nor has he quit the show.”
Danny’s character is currently dealing with a lot as Mick Carter tries to run ship with wife Linda away.
His son Lee is struggling with his relationship, whilst he also has kissed daughter-in-law Whitney (Shona McGarty) over the last month.
This week Mick told Lee to walk away from his marriage in hope of letting Whitney be happy.
Last month, Dyer hinted he may leave the soap when his contract ends.
“We’ll have to see then [at the end of the contract]. Four years is a long time. It’s been really rewarding but there’s other stuff out there.
I’d love to show other sides to me. I loved theatre and all that,” he explained.
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
