Declan Donnelly has revealed whether he will host I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on ITV without Ant McPartlin, if he is still in rehab.
The duo are known for being inseparable on screen, however they could be split up if Ant isn’t ready to return to the limelight in time for the new series of I’m A Celeb.
Speaking to friends, Dec has revealed he is confident Ant will make a full recovery from prescription drug and drink problems before the show airs.
Reports have suggested Holly Willoughby could step in to host alongside Dec in the jungle, as they are close friends.
But a close friend revealed: “Dec wouldn’t work on screen without Ant on any major show and he has said the last thing he would do is go to Australia without him.
“To say he would consider working with Holly was ridiculous. He is a good friend of hers but he would not do that to Ant.
The source added: “They’ve got months yet to sort things out and the hope is that Ant will bounce back with another hit series of I’m A Celebrity and they will move on from this chapter in their career.”
Earlier this month Ant checked into rehab after he revealed his problems to wife Lisa and Dec.
He has been suffering chronic knee pain but after having an operation became hooked on the drug Tramadol and went on drink and drug binges.
In a statement Ant said: “I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.
“I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time.
“I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.
“The first step is to admit to yourself you need help.”
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs in the autumn on ITV.
