The BBC have confirmed Ben Mitchell is to leave EastEnders in a ‘dramatic’ storyline planned for later this year.
It’s been revealed that actor Harry Reid will bow out of the role after three years playing him.
An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed the news ‘We can confirm that Harry will be leaving EastEnders. Harry has been a great addition to the cast and we wish him all the best for the future.’
Details of his final storyline are under wraps with it unclear whether products will kill him off. However, fans have started to see on screen a relationship forming between him and Luke Browning.
Harry is the fifth incarnation of Ben, taking over the role from Joshua Pascoe.
He’s taken part in storylines including Mum Kathy’s return from the dead, coming out as gay, the death of his boyfriend Paul Coker and his attempt at revenge against Paul’s killers.
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
