It’s finally time for EastEnders’ live week, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the show, with Lucy Beale’s killer set to be finally unmasked as part of the celebrations.
A number of characters are currently in the frame for the crime, with suspects including dad Ian Beale, stepmum Jane and lover Max Branning.
But could bosses be about to throw a major curveball and name young Bobby as the killer?
Lucy’s young half-brother hasn’t been named on the official suspects list, but bookmakers William Hill has made him their new favourite at 4/1 after a flurry of bets.
Who killed Lucy Beale? The top 10 suspects:
- 4/1 Bobby Beale
- 9/2 Jane Beale
- 5/1 Mick Carter
- 7/1 Abi Branning
- 7/1 Ben Mitchell
- 7/1 Peter Beale
- 10/1 Les Coker
- 14/1 Cindy Beale
- 14/1 Ian Beale
- 14/1 Jay Brown
Spokesman Rupert Adams said: ‘The betting is hotting up and the big bets overnight have all been for Bobby – he has to be on the shortlist of possible culprits for his price to drop by two thirds in such a short period of time.’
Jane is now second favourite, but perhaps her suspicious behaviour is actually because she helped cover up her beloved stepson’s involvement in Lucy’s death?
At the tender age of 11 Bobby does seem a little young to be a murderer, but bosses haven’t actually ruled out the possibility of manslaughter.
Could Bobby have clobbered Lucy after a row got out of hand? Perhaps after a heated conversation he pushed her out of the way with a little more force than intended?
If Bobby is the killer, writers will certainly have succeeded in pulling off a major twist. But would it be a twist too far?
