The show that was dubbed “the modern day Big Brother” now has a former Big Brother presenter to front it.
Channel 4 announced late Tuesday night that Emma Willis has been tabbed as the new host of The Circle, taking over from Alice Levine and Maya Jama.
The Sun first reported the news with Channel 4 later confirming it with a tweet to welcome the former Big Brother host to the show. Emma will host a live show every Friday as well as a “big launch event” according to the broadcaster.
“I’m delighted to be part of something incredibly relevant and can’t wait to see how mischievous people are prepared to be for £100,000,” Willis said in a statement.
Emma hosted Big Brother on Channel 5 from 2013 until its final series in November 2018 and is the current presenter of The Voice UK and The Voice Kids UK, where she has been since 2016.
The Circle features a group of contestants living in separate flats but never see each other face to face. Their only form of communication is through a social platform called ‘The Circle’.
The first series rated well for C4 and was won by Alex Hobern, who took home the £75,000 prize.
The Circle returns to Channel 4 for its second series later this year.
