Gotham fans are anxiously waiting for the fifth and final season of the DC show. However, the final run may be shorter than originally thought.
Show star Camren Bicondova has revealed the fifth season of Gotham will have just 10 episodes to close out its series. This would be three fewer episodes than the usual 13-episode half-season.
During a live stream on her Instagram account, fans were quick to ask Bicondova about the final season of Gotham.
“Gotham Season Five is happening,” Bicondova said. “We were picked up for 10 episodes, and I believe it will be airing in the U.S. January 2019.”
She seems to have confirmed the rumors floating around the internet, which stated the final run would consist of 13 episodes. One problem with the fifth season being 10 episodes is it would not be enough to get Gotham to syndication.
Normally, the episode count to reach syndication is 100 and the final 10 episodes would bring the total episode count to 98, two shy of the magic number.
Fox has issued a statement saying the number of episodes for season five as well as a premiere date will be announced in the near future.
Gotham airs on Fox in the U.S. and on E4 in the U.K. Season five is will air in 2019.
