Former NFL star Terrell Owens is the second celebrity confirmed for Dancing With The Stars 2017.
The official announcement was made on Tuesday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, where Owens appeared with his partner Cheryl Burke.
Owens spent 15 seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. He ended his football career with 1,078 receptions, 15,935 yards and 153 touchdowns. Since the end of his career, he has done modeling work and has done advocating for causes including Alzheimer’s disease awareness.
Burke announced her return to the ballroom on Monday. She is a two-time mirrorball trophy winner with one of those wins coming with NFL legend Emmitt Smith.
“He’s a performer so I’m definitely going to use that to my advantage,” she said of her partner. “As long we do the work in the studio and really practice hard, then he can do whatever he likes on the dance floor.”
Owens said he spoke with his friend and former “DWTS” contestant Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco about what to expect from the show and to know what exactly he has gotten himself into.
“This is going to be a challenge for me, definitely,” Owens said. “[It’s] definitely not in my wheelhouse. I danced as a little kid but this is nothing like what I’m going to expect, I’m sure.”
Terrell Owens joins Drew Scott on the list of celebrities competing for the mirrorball. Scott was confirmed to take part last week.
The entire cast for Season 25 of Dancing With The Stars will be revealed later this morning on Good Morning America..
