News presenter India Willoughby became the first celebrity to be evicted from Celebrity Big Brother 2018, it was revealed on Friday.
Willoughby lost out in the public vote to Love Island star Jonny Mitchell, who received the most votes from the viewers to remain the house.
After leaving the house, the 52-year-old told host Emma Willis she knew she’d be the one to get boot first from the house: “I had so much more to offer, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. It is like a hurdles race, there are obstacles in the house and I hit a really big one on the gender question.”
In a nominations twist, only the eight women could nominate a housemate for eviction. India received a nomination from everyone apart from Malika. Many of the votes came from India constantly bringing up an issue of gender. Which is something she realized in her interview with Emma.
“I peeved them on the first night with the question about gender and love, my tactics were all over the place and once your frozen out it’s difficult to get back in.”
“I was psyched up to mix it a little bit, maybe have some confrontations, stir things up, cause trouble, but it’s not that house.”
After reflecting, she realised she should have taken a different approach to the situation at hand.
“I should have kept my gob shut and just waited for the questions to come and answered the questions one by one, instead of burying people under a load of statements and views,” she said.
Despite her time in the house being controversial, India said she is a massive fan of the show and said she would overcome her fears of drag queens, most notably from Courtney Act.
Celebrity Big Brother continues nightly on Channel 5 with a double eviction scheduled for next Friday at 9:00pm.
