The Great British Bake Off could be about to enter into a bidding war, with ITV and the BBC both bidding to win the format.
The show, which pulled in more than 13million viewers last year, could be about to jump ship to ITV, just as The Voice UK did earlier in the year.
The production company who make the show, Love Productions, are reportedly offering the rights at around £20million with both channels interested.
The Sun claims it may move to ITV as negotiations about the price have apparently stalled with the Beeb.
A BBC source told The Sun: “The last thing the BBC wants to do is let a show as big as The Great British Bake Off go, but it looks like they will have no choice.
“This is the most lucrative show Love Productions have ever made, and they have asked for a huge amount of money to keep it where it is. The simple fact is the BBC can’t afford it. Talks have broken down.
“They could turn it around, but at this stage it would look like little less than a miracle.”
A spokeswoman for Love Productions said: “Negotiations are ongoing.”
