Loose Women Jamelia is the eighth celebrity to depart the dance floor in Strictly Come Dancing 2015.
The show was live from the world famous Blackpool Tower this week and Jamelia became the eighth contestant to leave the competition.
In the Strictly’s results show the Judges’ marks were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples in the dance off.
This week, it was Singer and Presenter Jamelia and her professional partner Tristan MacManus against Singer and TV Personality Peter Andre and his professional partner, Janette Manrara.
Both couples performed their routines again. Jamelia and Tristan did their Quickstep to ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees and Peter and Janette performed their Jive to ‘River Deep, Mountain High’ by Tina Turner.
After both couples had danced a second time, the Judges delivered their verdicts:
Craig said: “I would like to save Peter and Janette.”
Darcey said: “The couple I would like to save on their improvement in tonight’s performance is Peter and Janette.”
Bruno also chose to save the couple saying: “I would like for Peter and Janette to stay on Strictly.”
As Bruno agreed with Darcey and Craig, Peter and Janette were safely through to next week.
When asked by Tess if Head Judge Len Goodman agreed with his fellow judges, he said, “Funnily enough no I didn’t, I thought Jamelia and Tristan did a very very fine Quickstep and I would have brought you back.”
Jamelia commented on her time on the show, “I’m sorry to go, I do have to say I’ve had the most fantastic time. I’ve made the most amazing set of friends, I’ve danced at the Tower Ballroom and I’ve danced with Tristan MacManus a million times!
I just feel so fortunate to have had this experience and I hope that I’ve shown people that if you are determined and if you work hard then you can surpass whatever you think.
I’ve said it over and over again, I could not have had a better partner than Tristan, he’s so fantastic, so positive and he really has believed in me. It’s down to him why I’ve made it all the way to Blackpool, thank you!”
Tristan added, “Jamelia’s done great and even tonight, it was a completely different dance we’ve just done and unfortunately someone else did a completely different dance as well, it was unbelievable!
Again, first and foremost we are dance teachers, we compete and what we want to do is pass on some sort of information to someone and the improvement in Jamelia every week has been unbelievable and I couldn’t be more proud.”
The remaining seven couples are now safely though to next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday 28th November at 6.50pm.
Next week’s show will include a brand new feature, the Quickstepathon which offers a chance for the remaining couples to earn valuable extra points.
