Strictly Come Dancing was broadcast live from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom this weekend.
Hosts Tess Daly and Zoe Ball welcomed the remaining nine couples onto the world famous dance floor for another chance to impress judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood, and the viewers at home.
Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker and her partner Brendan Cole, and Tennis Coach Judy Murray and professional partner Anton Du Beke found themselves in the dance-off.
The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples facing the dance off.
Both couples then performed their routines again; Judy and Anton did their Viennese Waltz to ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’ from the musical Mary Poppins, and Sunetra and Brendan performed their Samba to ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ by the Scissor Sisters and in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.
After both couples had danced a second time the judges delivered their verdicts:
Craig, Darcey and Bruno all chose to save Sunetra and Brendan.
Head Judge Len Goodman agreed that he would have also chosen to save Sunetra and Brendan too but talking about Judy and Anton added: “I’d like to say that I thought tonight’s performance was fantastic.”
Talking about her friendship with Anton, Judy said: “I was starting to think I was absolutely hopeless but I know am still not very good! Anton has treated everything with the most incredible sense of humour, he is great fun to be around and has made my Strictly experience very very special.”
Anton added: “I am so excited and thrilled about the whole experience for Judy as she is such a big fan of the show and the fun that we have had has purely been because of Judy’s great sense of humour. She is such a warm spirit and character and personality and is such a great sport with such enthusiasm which made the whole thing enormous fun.”
Sunday’s results show featured two special musical performances. The first was from Dame Shirley Bassey, who sang ‘Goldfinger’ and the second from McBusted, who performed their debut single ‘Air Guitar’.
Next week’s show will air on Saturday 22nd November at 7pm, with the results show on Sunday 23rd November at 7.15pm on BBC One.
