It could be a busy island this summer after The Sun revealed that Love Island show makers have had 55,000 applications from singletons desperate to be cast.
The paper reveals it’s more than six times more than last year’s number of applications.
Host Caroline Flack will be back at the villa to bring the latest news, bust ups and romances.
Caroline will also be fronting a weekly live spin-off studio show, with different celebrity guests each week and immediate reaction and gossip from the villa.
According to Heat magazine, three more potential islanders have been lined up.
Plus-sized model Melicia Chivers, 22, is a business student at Lancaster uni, and the publication has tipped her for big things.
“She does pole dancing, too, for strength and fitness. The show has always been about slim girls in bikinis, but they want a more diverse group this year,” the source said.
She could be joined by DJ Danny Latimer, 30, who has previously appeared on the likes of Desperate Scousewives and Shipwrecked: Battle of the Islands.
“Danny’s really romantic,” the insider added. “He’s genuine and would like to find love on the show.”
Another name rumoured is fitness star Ross Dickerson, who lives with pal James Khan – a previous contestant – and wanted to appear last year, but it’s claimed sponsor Gym Shark were concerned.
The source said: “When they realised the show wasn’t like Geordie Shore – all about boozing – they agreed to let Ross do it.”
Producers have been casting for the new run for months, looking to find another bunch of entertaining faces for us to enjoy over the summer.
Although ITV2 hasn’t confirmed the official start date just yet, the series is expected to launch in the first week of June.
