Netflix has revealed it’s hit series Making A Murderer will return for a second series examining Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey.
The documentary made headlines after it focused on the murder of Teresa Halbach and the convictions of Avery and Dassey, with fans unable to agree on whether Avery did, or didn’t murder them.
Netflix has now announced that filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are working on new episodes about Avery and Dassey.
Whilst not a lot is known, it looks like the “next chapter” will focus on Avery and Dassey’s attempts to challenge their convictions and the State’s efforts to uphold their sentences.
The Making A Murderer team have gained exclusive access to Avery’s new lawyer Kathleen Zellner and Dassey’s legal team, led by Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin.
As well as that, they’ll be more information from the families and characters close to the case.
“We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series,” Ricciardi and Demos said.
“The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold.”
The first series of Making A Murderer has picked up six Emmy nominations, including for Outstanding Documentary or Non-Fiction Series.
