The penultimate round of Judge Cuts on Tuesday’s America’s Got Talent saw some questionable decisions by the judges and guest judge Martina McBride’s Golden Buzzer choice left fans scratching their heads.
For the just the second time this season, a non-singing act received the golden buzzer. The country star hit her buzzer for 71-year-old ballroom dancer Quin and her 35-year-old partner Misha after their routine to “Sax” by Fleur East.
“You have definitely inspired me,” judge Heidi Klum said. “I think you are an absolutely incredible woman. I love what you do. I love watching you guys. I’m very impressed. Thank you.”
McBride was left in awe and inspired by the performance.
“Wow. You know, you say you want to inspire people of a certain age, but you inspired everybody of all ages. Truly a remarkable performance. I don’t know, it just really moved me. I think it’s incredible.”
She then slammed on her golden buzzer, sending the dance act straight into the live shows. Qira kneeled on the floor in tears as the golden confetti rained down on the stage and host Tyra Banks informed them they had advanced to the next round.
Despite McBride being happy with her golden buzzer, many fans were not pleased. Some felt the act was undeserving of a pass to the live shows because it was not memorable enough.

I’m sorry, but how was that the golden buzzer on @AGT tonight!? There was very little dancing. It’s all about the lifts, and the dancing itself is actually very slow and labored. I’m okay with the choirs getting golden buzzers now. This makes no sense!#AGT #GoldenBuzzer

Quin and Misha joined choirs Angels of Chorale and The Voices of Hope Children’s Choir as other Golden Buzzer act in the judge cut round.
The other six acts that advanced on Tuesday were The Savitsky Cats, PAC Dance Team, The Sacred Riana, UDI Dance, Noah Guthrie and We Three.
America’s Got Talent airs on NBC in the US and streams on Netflix in the UK. The final round of Judge Cuts with guest judge Chris Hardwick airs next week.
