Wait what?! Just when you thought we had lost mary Berry from the Bake Off, all may not be lost…
The legendary baker, and TV favourite is returning to screens with a new eight part series of the baking show.
There’s is a catch though… It’s for the American version of the show, the The Great American Baking Show.
Whilst she decided against moving to Channel 4 with the format, Mary is staying put with the ‘Bake Off’ format in the US. The spin off, of the UK format will air on ABC in the States on Friday December 2.
“In a magical, warm yet utterly dramatic eight-part series, a selection of the nation’s best amateur bakers will compete in a series of themed challenges and eliminations as they look to be crowned America’s Best Amateur Baker,”.
There’s a signature, technical, and showstopper challenge in each episode, and the contestants compete to be named Star Baker. Yes, it’s exactly the same…
Sadly Mel and Sue didn’t make the trip over the US though, but there is an unexpected presenting duo in the shape of My Big Fat Greek Wedding actor Nia Vardalos and her husband Ian Gomez.
If that isn’t enough Bake Off to wet your appetite, we still have the two-part BBC Christmas special with Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, and Mel and Sue, which will welcome back former Bake Off contestants to whip up some festive favourites.
The Great British Bake Off moves to Channel 4 in 2017.
