Matt Terry was crowned the winner of The X Factor 2016 on Sunday night, beating out Saara Aalto in one of the closest finals ever.
After Matt and Saara performed two more times and after guest performances from Kylie Minogue, Madness, Little Mix and Charlie Puth – it was time for the big result.

“Thank you so much, everybody,” an overwhelmed Matt said.
Simon Cowell congratulated the pair, saying: “You came into this final as good artists, you’ve left as great artists. What I promise you Matt is that we will give you 100 percent.”
Judge and Matt’s mentor Nicole Scherzinger added: “I’m just so happy for Matt, I’m so over the moon, I feel like I’ve won The X Factor too. He just has it.”
The voting percentages were revealed later and saw Matt beat Saara 48.5% to Saara’s 40.0%. At the vote freeze in Saturday’s show, Saara was ahead 35.3% to Matt’s 33.4%.
Saara finished in second place, saying: I am so happy for him, I love him. Thank you so much for having me here Sharon.”
