While America’s Got Talent is currently in the middle of its 13th season, the plans have already begun for next year and one judge is unsure if she will be back at the judge’s desk for Season 14.
Mel B’s future on the talent competition has come into question after court documents revealed her current contract with NBC runs out later this year.
“I am currently a judge on the NBC television show, America’s Got Talent,” Mel B stated in court documents. “I am currently in contract until the end of October 2018. I do not know if I will be asked back as a Judge on America’s Got Talent or if they will renew my contract.”
The 43-year-old Brown is currently going through a bitter divorce with estranged husband Stephan Belafonte and the pair owe taxes that cannot be paid off with money Mel B makes from AGT.
“My current state of financial affairs is of utmost concern due to the fact that Stephen and I have immense tax debts and have been unable to repay those debts,” she added.
Mel B has been a judge on AGT since 2013 and prior to the 13th season, there were rumors stating NBC producers had been upset with the former Spice Girl and were considering replacing her with Queen Latifah.
America’s Got Talent airs on NBC in the US and on Netflix in the UK.
