NBA star Metta World Peace aka Ron Artest became the fourth celebrity to be sent packing from the Celebrity Big Brother USA house on Monday night, following a shock Power of Veto twist.
Following Head of Household Omarosa’s nominations of Ross Mathews and Brandi Glanville, it was time to play for the Power of Veto.
However, America’s vote made sure it was no ordinary PoV. The public voted on three different veto powers and chose the ‘VIP Veto’. This gave the holder the power to take two replacements off the chopping block if they chose to.
After a tense competition, Ross won the veto and left no doubt he’d use it on himself. Omarosa then nominated Metta as a replacement nominee, but Ross declined to use the special veto a second time. This meant either Metta or Brandi would be evicted.
Before the vote, houseguests gave their final pleas. Brandi was sure she was staying and simply said: “I just want to say, thanks Metta for wanting to go home.”
Brandi’s confidence was spot on as the house voted Metta out with a unanimous 5-0 vote.
Following his eviction, Metta spoke to host Julie Chen about his time in the house. And he was overcome with emotion.
“We built a bond in there, it was unbelievable,” he said. “I made ten other brothers and sisters in there, but it was so hard.”
Julie then asked Metta if he learned anything while he was in the house.
“I learned a lot. I learned I missed my family a lot,” he answered.
Just before the end of the show, Julie confirmed with Friday’s live show would feature a double eviction. She then went on to say the final five will then battle it out for the $250,000 grand prize in Sunday’s finale.
Celebrity Big Brother continues Wednesday night on CBS in the states with the next set of nominations and Head of Household competition.
