Radio 1 Breakfast host, X Factor judge and all round media personality Nick Grimshaw, has launched a limited edition collection with Topman, which is now officially available online as of today (and in selected stores tomorrow).
The 20 piece collection which includes a range of shirts, jackets and scarfs was partially designed by Grimmy himself. “Unless I wanted to wear it right away, we didn’t do it” he stated.
The range is inspired by his own personal style and love of unique menswear.
Nick approached Topman himself with the idea for the collection. With them on board, the design process began with Nick taking Creative Director, Gordon Richardson, through his wardrobe: “I pulled out my favourite things, and we noticed a pattern emerge – I like a flouncy, silky, sassy shirt and lots of lovely knitwear”.
Nick had also been building up a scrapbook – “some of it wasn’t even clothes, just pictures of things” – that gave Gordon and his team a visual identity to build the collection around.
The other big inspiration for the range is his bull terrier, Pig, whom he hardly gets to see due to work commitments. This sparked the inspiration to feature her in his collection, hence the dog jumper.
Nick reveals he struggled with making the range of garments, as he is a perfectionist. “It was tough, but very rewarding” he says, then quickly adds “it’s kind of an addictive thing, design, isn’t it?”.
Grimmy’s BFF and boyband member Harry Styles appears to be a fan of the collection, being spotted wearing some funky shirts from the collection.
