X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has angered fans after urging ‘England’ to ‘vote for your own’ when trying to get Matt Terry support in Saturday’s final.
The comment came after Matt sang his first song of the night and was getting feedback. Nicole was urging viewers to try and vote for her act, but did not choose her words wisely.
“Come on, England! Get behind your own!,” she said.
Host Dermot O’Leary quickly tried to correct the judge, telling Matt: “You probably want Scotland and Wales to get behind you as well.”
Nicole’s comments did not sit well with viewers who saw it as a swipe at Saara Aalto, who is from Finland.

xenophobic comment from Nicole! 'Vote for your own' err I'll vote for who deserves to win, regardless of their country of origin #XFactor

Fans also took the chance to slam Nicole for her role in her duet with Matt when the pair sang ‘Purple Rain’. Several viewers saw it as the American judge trying to steal the moment from her contestant.
However, despite all this – it seems it has done little to dent Matt’s chances of winning. He currently is the favourite to win the show tonight in what may be the closest final yet.
It remains to be seen how Nicole will respond to the harsh feedback or if she will address it on the show tonight.
The X Factor 2016 concludes tonight with the grand final airing on ITV at 8pm.
