After two years with the same X Factor judging panel, Simon Cowell is allegedly making some major changes to the panel for the upcoming 15th series this autumn.
According to the Sun, Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly been axed from the panel and Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh are allegedly ‘next to follow’ despite being under contract for the upcoming series.
“Nicole was a passionate judge but has no contract and won’t be back this year in order to bring in fresh blood,” a show source claimed.
It has been long rumoured that the Pussycat Doll would not be returning with reports back in November saying former judge Cheryl Tweedy would be returning to replace Nicole on a massive a £1.5million deal.
Along with Cheryl, Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon, Kylie Minogue, and Mariah Carey are all ‘potential’ replacements for Nicole.
Host Dermot O’Leary said in recent months the show’s format may be getting tweaked again: “We had a lot of twists in the last series but this time we’re going back to basics.”
Its suggested that Simon wants to make the changes to the panel to give the show a ‘younger’ feel. This comes after the recent series received backlash from fans over a weird and confusing format in the live shows.
As for Louis and Sharon, X Factor bosses seem to have issues with both of them as well. For Mrs. O, she travels from London to America, where she is a co-host on a talk show, while Louis’ recent admission about hearing loss does not reportedly sit well with producers.
“Louis and Sharon are both contracted to return this year, but Simon and the producers have lost faith. They were both terrible on the panel last year. Louis has had a great run, but he’s advertising hearing aids for God’s sake. It’s beyond a joke,” the source added.
Simon is reportedly eyeing One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson or Craig David as replacements for Walsh. However, the show source told The Sun it may not be that easy to axe Louis or Sharon as they both are contracted for the series.
“It is possible either Sharon or Louis could still return because both have contracts.”
The X Factor returns to ITV for its 15th series later this year.
