One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is allegedly making a return to the show that made him famous but this time as a judge.
The Daily Mirror is reporting Tomlinson is set to join the judging panel along with Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field as the newcomers joining Simon Cowell at the judge’s desk.
“He’s a close friend of the show and would make a brilliant judge,” a source told the newspaper. “Simon mentored One Direction and signed them to Syco Records, Now he’s looking after Louis’ solo career – which is going really well.”
“Louis is very much a part of the X Factor family.”
With arena auditions beginning next week ITV has not yet officially confirmed the judging panel for the series apart from Cowell and Sharon Osbourne returning only for the live show stage of the competition as a fifth judge.
The 26-year-old singer saw his career begin on The X Factor back in 2010 as part of the world’s biggest boyband known as One Direction. The group finished in third place that series.
Tomlinson returned in 2015 to help Simon at Judge’s Houses and also was a guest judge on America’s Got Talent back in 2016.
The X Factor returns to ITV later this year.
