The X Factor returned to ITV on Saturday night and while the viewers were impressed, some of the audience from last year did not make the return.
An average of 6.2 million viewers tuned in as Louis, Sharon, Nicole, and Simon took their places at the judges desk to kick off another X Factor series. The figure is the lowest rated launch since series one.
The viewers are down 600,000 on last year, but the figure did peak at 7 million. However, that is still 500,000 below the 2016 opening figure.
There is some good news. The X Factor was the biggest Saturday show of the night, doubling any other show on ITV. The Chase spin-off show ‘The Family Chase’ opened with 2.5 million.
Over on BBC One, Len Goodman’s Partners In Crime had just 1.2 million viewers, falling yet again i the ratings.
The X Factor continues tonight on ITV with more auditions at 8pm.
