Rita Ora could be making a return to the X Factor judging panel as Simon Cowell continues to reshuffle things before the series returns in the autumn.
According to The Sun, the 27-year-old singer is now seen as the frontrunner to replace Nicole Scherzinger at the judge’s desk after she was axed by show bosses.
It has been rumoured for the past few weeks that Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne are set to follow Nicole out of the door but now it seems more likely Louis and Sharon will probably return.
Originally Simon was hoping Mel B would make a return to the show but cannot commit to moving to the UK.
“Mel would really like to return home to the UK for a spot on The X Factor,” a show source told The Daily Star. “The chemistry with Simon on the new series of America’s Got Talent is really strong, so bringing her back is an option.
“But the legal issues that she faces over her daughter Madison are tough.”
Other names reportedly in the mix to join the panel include former judge Cheryl Tweety, Alesha Dixon, Kylie Minogue and Mariah Carey.
Rita was originally on The X Factor back in 2015 where she was the winning judge as Louisa Johnson took him the crown.
The X Factor will return to ITV in August.
