It was episode 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 this week and as always the drama was in excess.
Here’s a run down of the top 5 moments you don’t want to miss, HUNTY!
And of course… it contains spoilers!
1. Bob Vs Derrick
After Britney impersonator Derrick Barry claimed Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein said Derrick could come on tour with them and impersonate Debbie, Bob (The Drag Queen) joked “They must be on drugs”.
Derrick of course got all butthurt, replying “Yeah I didn’t hear you get that” and later asking “Hey Bob, if I wanna do ratchet drag next week can you give me any tips?”
Bob wittily responded “If you wanna do memorable drag next week I can give you some tips.” Not sure if your Amazon-bought robot suit was memorable, Bob…
Was Bob just trying to push Derrick’s buttons? Online sources claim the fellow Season 8 queens thought Bob was constantly talking during filming.
All I know is I certainly won’t be going to see Derrick Barry as Debbie Harry on tour…
2. Critter Couture
RuPaul punked the queens in the work room after telling them the episode’s ‘maxi challenge’ was to drive along the Hollywood freeway to collect roadkill and turn them into evening gowns.
Personally, that sounds more interesting than any acting challenge they’ve ever done…
3. Snatch Game!
Ru revealed the real challenge was of course the highly anticipated Snatch Game.
As we all know, doing well in Snatch Game is pretty much a pass to the final so the stakes are HIGH!
At a viewing party Thorgy revealed everybody (including RuPaul) thought Robbie Turner was going to impersonate Liza Minelli and was given major “stink eye” when she revealed that she in fact wasn’t.
Thorgy also called Bob “Bob the motherfucking drag queen who won’t shut up!” after revealing Bob was talking non-stop during Snatch Game, even answering other queens’ questions!
4. Too Many Whoopis
Noami had come prepared to impersonate Whoopi Goldberg in The Colour Purple but Bob had a catalogue of impersonations he was ready to use including Whoopi in Sister Act.
Naomi later chose to impersonate Tiffany “New York” Pollard, which was a major disaster, and Bob didn’t even choose Whoopi in the end after all! Bit unfair?
This weeks runway was ‘Night of a Hundred Madonnas’.
Thorgy, Derrick, Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls all unfortunately walked out in kimonos from Madonna’s ‘Nothing Really Matters’ and ‘Paradise (Not For Me) music videos.
Apparently Chi Chi Devayne also had a kimono ready for her panel look and chose to create a brand new Madonna outfit the day of the runway.
