The first episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway beat all rival shows this weekend.
The series which returned last night had almost double the viewer numbers than BBC One rival show Let It Shine.
The fourteenth series of Ant and Dec’s show brought in an average of 7.4 million viewers – peaking at 8.7 million, a 600,000 rise from last year.
The ITV programme also proved to be one of the most popular TV shows that night, with more viewers than both The Voice and Let It Shine on BBC One at the same time.
Let It Shine’s final pulled in an average of 4.1 million viewers, peaking at 4.5 million, despite starting 15 minutes earlier than Ant and Dec.
However, the return of Saturday Night Takeaway didn’t help to hold viewers on ITV for The Voice UK with only an average of 5.2 million viewers watching, with 6.2 million people at its peak.
The Voice UK and Saturday Night Takeaway returns Saturday to ITV.
