Sharon Osbourne will not be returning to The X Factor following a profanity-laced tirade at show boss Simon Cowell and criticising the show’s contestants.
The judge and music manager was due to appear on the live show rounds to fill in for Robbie Williams, who will miss some shows due to tour commitments. However, now that will no longer be the case.
The Sun is reporting Simon and show bosses axed Sharon after she referred to the constants as “little s***s” and said Cowell is a “fat faced mother f***er” SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show.
“Sharon is going to try and spin this as her choice to leave, but after that disgusting interview, there was no way Simon Cowell or the executives would have her back on the panel,” a source told the tabloid
They added: “Not only did she make shocking attacks on him, but she also slagged off the show itself and the lovely members of the public who decide to audition. Good riddance to her.”
Despite that report, Sharon insists that it was her decision to walk away from the show. She released a statement on Facebook, citing she did not feel she was needed on this year’s series.
“After watching the new season #XFactor unfold, I’ve seen the new judges finding their rhythm and are doing brilliantly,” she said. “Simon was so gracious to find me a spot on the live shows but at this point, I really don’t think I’m needed and I would honestly feel odd coming in at this point. So I have decided to pass on the series this year.
“I wish the show continued success and as much as I love to get my face on TV you will have to do without me this season.”
The X Factor panel consists of Cowell, Robbie Williams and his wife, Ayda Field, and Louis Tomlinson. It is unknown at this time what the show will do to fill the spot left by Williams when he’s on tour.
“The X Factor can confirm Sharon Osbourne has decided not to return to this year’s show, a show spokesperson said in a statement. “Sharon will always be a big part of The X Factor family and we wish her all the best for the future.”
The X Factor airs Saturday’s and Sunday’s at 8.35pm on ITV.
