Sharon Osbourne will return to The X Factor in 2017 for another series, according to the Daily Mirror.
Show boss Simon Cowell said at the of last year’s series he would like the judging panel, which included Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger to remain the same for the upcoming series.
The Daily Mirror is reporting Cowell and ITV have reached a verbal agreement with Sharon to return to the judging panel in a £2 million deal.
“Sharon looks like she is returning to the X Factor, and has been telling people that it is a done deal,” a source told the tabloid. “She will film the auditions in the summer, and then jet to and from London for the live shows.”
However, the news comes as the 64-year-old is currently in the process of renewing her contract with daytime talk show The Talk on CBS in America. It will make things interesting for Sharon, who would travel from the states to Britain for live shows.
“Some feel that she may have to alter her schedules and that could an impact on her coming back,” said the source. “One thing is for sure – Sharon is the heartbeat of The Talk and the one who makes headlines, so they will not wanto let her go.”
Louis Walsh has already confirmed he will be returning to the panel with Cowell, while host Dermot O’Leary will front the show for another series. The only question remaining is if Scherzinger will return.
If the panel does stay the same, it will be the first time that has happened since the 2010 series.
The X Factor returns to ITV later in the year.
