Sherif Lanre has been removed from the Love Island villa and will not be returning, ITV has confirmed.
The 20-year-old was coupled with Anna Vakili and has spoken out blaming “poor judgment” for his removal from the villa a little over a week into the show.
“In a case of poor judgment, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa,” Sherif said in a statement. “I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20-year-old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.”
While the reasoning behind Sherif’s departure is not yet known, The Sun is reporting he broke the show’s rules for contacting people outside of the villa.
“After breaking villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed he would leave,” ITV said in a statement.
There were no scenes featuring Sherif in Tuesday night’s episode and his departure was only mentioned in the narration.
Love Island airs nightly at 9 pm on ITV 2.
