One Direction’s Liam Payne and X Factor’s Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are “madly in love” according to Simon Cowell.
The duo, which surprised everyone announcing their romance, got together back in December after meeting up backstage at The X Factor final and made it public in February.
Now, after sharing a handful of loved up snaps together the big boss has had his say too.
“I saw them together and we had a really nice dinner,” he revealed. “They were on good form.
“They’re like two little chipmunks madly in love. Literally, they were so cute.”
Simon said he had ‘no clue’ about Cheryl and Liam’s relationship until the papers revealed it.
“I’m not going to talk about the past,” Simon added to The Sun newspaper, “But importantly they both seemed very happy over here and very relaxed.
“I’m happy for them.”
However, it might not all be good news for Cheryl after should could be set to be axed from The X Factor’s judging line up.
According to a new report, talks are currently ongoing about her future on ahead of the new series.
“It’s a critical time and the talks will be a big factor in determining how the show looks this year,” a source said at the weekend.
The insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl will be the one who makes the decision on her future – she and Simon are great friends and he’s totally supportive of her decision, whatever that turns out to be.
“They’ve got the show’s best interests at heart and aren’t rushing into anything. The talks could continue for some time.”
The X Factor will return to ITV in the autumn with the room auditions.
