It may come as no surprise but the next X-Men film will be set in the 1990s.
There’s been a trend in the X-Men films with 2011’s X-Men: First Class being set in the 1960s and 2014 X-Men: Days Of Future Past taking place in 1970s, with the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse set to arise in the 1980s.
The news was confirmed by producer of the X-Men film franchise, Simon Winberg.
“The next one is set in the ’90s,” the franchise producer told us.
It’s unclear if Kinberg meant the next headline “X-Men” film in the series, or director Josh Boone’s in-development New Mutants feature.
The X-Men comics became very popular in the 1990’s which saw a new crop of teenage mutants, including Magik, Wolfsbane, Dani Moonstar, Cannonball, Sunspot, and Warlock.
