Made in Chelsea star Mark-Francis Vandelli has become the fourth celebrity to quit The Jump after breaking his ankle in the Snow Cross event on Sunday’s show.
Viewers saw the 26-year-old injure himself and unable to compete in the live jump to determine who would be eliminated from the sports reality show.
His injury was more serious than first thought and he will be leaving the Channel 4 show following his surgery yesterday to repair the damage.
Vandelli becomes the fourth celebrity to leave the competition after actress Tina Hobley and swimmer Rebecca Adlington quit the show. Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle fractured two vertebrae and also departed from the show.
“All winter sports carry some element of risk,” the broadcaster said in a statement. In light of the number of injuries this year, Channel 4 has asked the producers to review safety procedures again.”
Discussing Vandelli’s injury, Channel 4 also released the following statement:
“Whilst racing during the show on Sunday evening, Mark-Francis fell, injuring his ankle.
“He received immediate medical attention but sadly will not be able to continue in the competition due to an ankle fracture which has now been treated.”
The Jump airs Sunday’s on Channel 4.
