It looks like Channel 4 might be looking for a jump in ratings after its latest series of the snowey reality show bombed.
The Jump 2016 launched to an average audience of 2.3 million viewers last night.
However, the third series of the winter sports show opened down 500,000 viewers on last year’s premiere which gained 2.8 million viewers.
To make matters worse, the show was beaten by the latest highlights show of former Channel 4 for at Celebrity Big Brother, now on Channel 5, with more than 2.4 million viewers tuning in.
Last week Channel 4 failed to beat any of Celebrity Big Brother’s ratings with any show at all on the channel.
The first live show of The Jump last night saw the twelve new celebs take on their first event – the skeleton – but wind conditions in Austria meant that The Jump itself could not take place live.
Instead, the celebs’ pre-recorded practice runs were used to decide who went home and it was Louisa Lytton who bowed out of the competition on the first night.
In a change to the first two series, The Jump 2016 will continue weekly on Sunday evenings instead of week nightly.
