After weeks of auditions, battles, and knockouts on The Voice UK, Team Olly, Team Tom, Team J-Hud, and Team Will have finally completed their teams for the live show rounds.
With just two weeks to go until the final, Saturday night’s show saw the coaches finalize their teams for the live shows in the last round of knockouts. In case you missed it, here is a recap of the performances and results.
Team Olly
Olly’s team was up first as Georgia Bray took the stage to perform ‘Black and Gold’ by Sam Sparrow, which received a solid reception from the audience and judges.
Molly Hacking was up next as she sang her rendition of ‘Human’ by Christina Perri. This was easily the best performance from Team Olly in either stage of the knockouts as Molly used her powerful vocals to really bring the performance home.
Stefan Mahendra finished things up for Team Olly with an odd song choice, Ariana Grande’s ‘God Is A Woman’. This was one of the weirder performances of the night and did not do it justice for me.
The Result
After all three performances, Olly made his knockout decision. After some debating, he chose to send Molly into the live semifinals.
Team J-Hud
Team Jennifer was next on the night and Nicole Dennis kicked things off with Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Because of You’. I was not a fan of this song for Nicole but there is no doubt that Nicole has the strongest voice in the competition.
The trio known as Remember Monday was up next as they performed an original song titled ‘Jailbreaker’. The song really suited their voices and was actually a really pop-country vibe. Very well done.
Bukky Oronti closed out the knockouts with Adele’s “Fire To The Rain”. While it was a great performance, the result felt like it was already decided by this point.
The Result
In the end, Jennifer would choose Nicole to advance to the live semifinals.
Team Will
Will’s group was next up and it would be Ilianna starting things off with Randy Crawford’s ‘Street Life’. The song was very well done and fit Ilianna’s voice perfectly. This was a great way to kick off the knockout for Team Will.
Emmanuel Smith was up next as he performed ‘Made A Way’ by Travis Greene. He easily had the nicest voice left on Will’s team and sang the song with such passion and heart.
Christina Ellinas closed out the knockout round for Team Will as she sang Beyonce’s ‘Pretty Girls’. She also sang the song well and it really showcased her voice in parts despite her sounding pitchy at times.
The Result
Will struggled a bit with his decision but chose to put Emmanuel through to the Semi-final.
Team Tom
Tom’s team would close the show and he kicked things off with Ayanam Udoma performing Imagine Dragons’ ‘Thunder’. The song was very slow and honestly, it was boring. This was easy to see Ayanam would not be going through.
Bethzienna Williams was next with Bishop Briggs’ ‘River’. She woke up the crowd with this rock-like performance and put her own stamp on the song.
Cedric Neal closed out the show with “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and it was honestly the best performance of the night.
The Result
Sir Tom easily chose Cedric to advance to the live shows and ending the semi-finals.
It is not over for the acts who did not make it as for the first time ever, the public will vote for one eliminated act to join the eight semifinalists.
The Voice UK continues next Saturday with the live semifinal on ITV with host Emma Willis.
