Let the battle commence!
The Voice UK kicked off its battle rounds on Saturday night as coaches will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones, and Olly Murs each saw members of their teams fight to make it to the knockouts.
In case you missed it, here is a recap of all the battles from Saturday night, who won, and who was stolen.
Mike Platt vs. Cedric Neal (Team Tom)
The battles kicked off with Team Tom as he paired Mike Platt against Cedric Neal with the song “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”. Sir Tom paired the two very well as they sang with wonderful chemistry and worked well off each other on stage.
In the end, Tom chose to send Cedric to the knockouts. Mike failed to get a steal and was sent home.
Brieya May vs. Ilianna (Team Will)
will.i.am paired up Brieya May with Ilianna and gave them the song “American Boy”. After a great first battle, this one lacked spark. The harmonies were off and both girls had trouble finding the right pitch to sing in.
In the end, Will chose Ilianna to advance to the next round. Brieya did not get a steal and was sent home.
Remember Monday vs. Kieron Smith (Team J-Hud)
Jennifer paired up trio Remember Monday with Kieron Smith, giving them “Home” by American Idol winner Phillip Phillips. The song was perfect for both artists but the trio clearly stole this battle. Their harmonies and runs were spectacular from start to finish.
At the end of the battle, J-Hud rightfully chose Remember Monday as Kieron was sent home after not getting a steal.
Mollie Hocking vs. Connie Lamb (Team Olly)
Olly’s first battle pairing saw Mollie Hocking and Connie Lamb get in the ring. He gave them “With You”. The girls channeled the emotion of the song well and despite Connie already knowing the song, Mollie gave her a proper run for her money.
After much debate, Olly chose to send Mollie to the knockouts. But Connie’s time was not over yet as Jennifer stole her and made her the latest member of Team J-Hud.
Christina Ellinas vs. Nyema Kalfon (Team Will)
Will’s second battle pairing saw Christina Ellinas match up with Nyema Kalfon. He gave them Demi Lovato’s “Confident” to perform and well, confidence was not lacking from these two. The song choice was poor because this is not a song meant for two people to perform.
The harmonies were off and it was just a poor outing. Will decided on Christina advancing to the next round and Nyema was sent home after not getting a steal.
Georgia Bray vs. The Flat Pack (Team Olly)
One of my favorite battles of the night came from Team Olly as Georgia Bray went head to head against The Flat Pack. Olly gave them “Hit the Road Jack” and it truly made Georgia shine. She had the better vocals and made the trio look like her back up singers.
Olly made the obvious decision and chose Georgia to advance. No steal was given, so the Flat Pack was sent packing.
Roger Samuels vs. Jimmy Balito (Team Tom)
The final battle of the night saw Roger Samuels and Jimmy Balito from Team Tom perform “Let It Be”. The two guys easily put on the best battle of the night as they hit all the perfect notes and got stronger each time out.
Tom struggled with his decision but chose Roger. Jimmy’s time was not over just yet as both Olly and Will hit their button to steal, putting the power in Jimmy’s hands. He chose to head to Team Olly.
The Voice UK airs Saturdays at 8 pm on ITV.
