The X Factor could find a new home away from ITV, after it’s been claimed Sky are interesting in poaching the format.
The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent are both currently contracted to air one more series on ITV next year, but after that Simon Cowell could ask for bids from anywhere.
The channel’s entertainment boss Elaine Bedell said last week that they would soon be sitting down with Simon Cowell to discuss the future of the shows.
The Daily Mail has revealed that Sky may be interested in picking up the rights to The X Factor, after it was reported that ITV currently pays £140 million for X Factor but will be looking to pay less after the decline in ratings.
An unnamed TV executive is quoted as saying of Sky’s potential bid: “Even if The X Factor loses half its viewers, Sky would still think Christmas had come early if they managed to poach it.”
In related news it’s rumoured that The Voice UK will be moving to ITV from 2017, but is still to be confirmed.
