“You know this has been bothering me for a very long time,” he said. “Everybody does this at their own speed when the time is right. “All you can be in your life is honest with yourself and I was getting to the point where I wasn’t being honest with myself and I didn’t like myself because I wasn’t being honest.”
Schofield has been married to his wife Stephanie Lowe for 27 years and have two children together. He said he has gone through some “some very dark moments” in recent months privately.

They have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion,” he wrote. “Yet still I can’t sleep and there have been some very dark moments.”
