Four singers were sent packing from The Voice UK last night as the live quarterfinals kicked off, with each coach losing an act.
The final 12 took to the stage hoping to impress their coach enough to use the ‘fast pass’ to send them straight into the next round of the competition.
Will.i.am saved his act Jason Jones after his performance of I Feel it Coming by The Weeknd and Daft Punk. Sir Tom Jones loved duo Into The Ark performing Nick Jonas’ Jealous and saved them.
Next was Gavin, who opted to save Truly Scrumptious Ford for her rendition of Lights by Ellie Goulding and Team J-Hud rounded out the round as Jennifer Hudson saved frontrunner Mo Adeniran who sang Bob Dylan’s Knocking on Heaven’s Door.
The viewing public then were asked to save four remaining singers based on their performances on the night. After Clean Bandit took the stage to perform, host Emma Willis returned with the results.
Team Will’s Michelle John impressed viewers enough with Chaka Khan’s I’m Every Woman to stay in the competition. Craig Ward from Team Tom did enough with The Killers’ All These Things I’ve Done to advance.
Max Vickers from Team Gavin was saved thanks with his performance of The Black Keys’ Lonely Boy and Team J-Hud’s Jamie Miller got through after singing Rihanna’s Love on the Brain.
This meant we said goodbye to Tanya Lacey, Nadine McGhee, Sarah Morgan, and Jack Bruley. Many fans felt that Tanya had the best performance of the night and should have been saved, leaving us with a shock night of eliminations.
The Voice UK continues next Saturday with the live semifinals at 7.30pm on ITV with host Emma Willis presenting.
