Is The Great British Bake Off looking to launch on Channel 4 sooner than we expected?
After the move from the BBC, there were strict rules that the BBC might prevent them from airing their first series of the show until 2018.
However, it looks like Bake Off could be back in 2017, a year earlier than expected…
The Sun is reporting that casting sessions to find contestants for the next series are already underway.
The sessions see bakers being asked if they will be free to film over the summer. Hmm!
‘Channel 4 and Love Productions who produce the show are keen to have a package ready to go as soon as possible,’ a source told the paper.
‘Ultimately hands are tied by contracts but there’s no doubt viewers want more Bake Off back in their lives and won’t like having to wait an extra year to get it.’
The insider told the paper that casting is underway, and that contestants were not only being asked about criminal convictions and sob stories, but also whether they would be free to film over a block of weekends in the summer.
The Great British Bake Off launches on ITV soon.
