Big Brother UK icon Nikki Grahame has died at the aged of 38 after a long battle with anorexia, her family has confirmed.
The reality star checked herself into a hospital last month after it became public she was dealing with an eating disorder. Her friend Leon Dee first shared the news on a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for Grahame’s anorexia treatment.
Grahame’s manager confirmed the news in a statement.
“It is with immeasurable sadness that Nikki Grahame passed away in the early hours of Friday 9th April 2021,” the rep said in a statement. “Please respect the privacy of Nikki’s friends and family at this tragic and difficult time.”
Grahame rose to fame after her stint in Big Brother 2006. Her rants and iconic Diary Rooms earned her popularity with viewers. She returned to the house in 2010 to take part in Ultimate Big Brother, which was the final series on Channel 4.
When the show moved to Channel 5, she returned to the show in 2015 and the show’s final series in 2018. She joined Big Brother Canada season four as a “Wildcard Houseguest” in 2016.
Grahame also won a National Television Award for Most Popular TV Contender and wrote two books, “Dying To Be Thin” and “Fragile,” which discussed her experiences with anorexia.
