If you are a fan of the American version of Lip Sync Battle, you are in for a treat. The show coming across the pond and will air in the UK.
Channel 5 has given the green light a British version of the hit show, which airs on Spike TV in America. Channel 5 director Ben Frow has ordered eight half-hour episodes that will be produced by Whizz Kid Entertainment.
“There is a great buzz around Lip Sync Battle – it’s one of the most talked-about and fought-over formats in the world of TV right now,” said Frow. “We’re excited that our developing relationship with Spike in the U.S. has made a U.K. version of the show possible and look forward to bringing entertainment back to the heart of Channel 5 primetime.”
Lip Sync Battle has rated well in the states, it is the highest rated show, averaging 3 million viewers. The channel has renewed the show for a second season, ordering 20 episodes to air in 2016.
Channel 5 and Spike have also worked together to launch Spike UK, which mad its debut in April. The channel has a mix of Channel 5 and Spike shows, including Lip Sync Battle. Additionally, Channel 5 also has acquired the U.K. rights to Spike mini-series Tut.
Lip Sync Battle is set to begin in the U.K. in 2016.
